Is It the End of the Road for Gary Busey on 'Celebrity Apprentice'?

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 11th 2011 4:21AM
Gary Busey & Mark McGrath, 'Celebrity Apprentice'Gary Busey's unpredictability has had the men on the edge of their nerves for weeks now on 'Celebrity Apprentice' (Sun., 9PM on NBC). Last week, Meat Loaf had an infamous meltdown of expletives and rage toward Busey, though that was ultimately undeserved. But it's safe to say that Busey has been a difficult teammate.

This week, he was up to his antics again during the challenge, driving the guys crazy and even hitting up the Australian Gold executives for some work.

Mark McGrath was the project manager for the men's team, and LaToya Jackson took point for the women. While both teams did exceptionally well, one team stayed on task and sold the message better.

With a traditional beach and winter theme to promote the importance of sunscreen, the women sent the men to the boardroom for their second consecutive elimination.

Before he knew the results, McGrath was willing to take ownership of a failure by the men. But after he found out they had lost, he joined the pile-on against Busey, detailing the three strikes against him that made Busey "out" to him.

When Donald Trump asked Busey why he shouldn't be fired, Busey said because he had "a good force of nature." Unfortunately, nobody knew what that meant.

But Busey makes for good television, so McGrath was sent packing. Though alive for another week, Busey didn't leave the boardroom without a stern warning from Trump.

"Watch your hands and watch your mouth and watch all that crap," he said. "You've gotta shape up. Too many complaints, Gary. They can't all be wrong."

Do you think Busey should have been eliminated this week?

Trump's decision to keep Busey has absolutely turned me off about this show. I'm done with it, having watched my last show.

At first Busey was funny and entertaining but now he's just annoying to watch. Might not be tuning in next week since they keep this guy on when the others are actually trying to earn money for charity and do some good. They have "jumped the shark" by letting Busey hang around too long.

Lately Donald Trump has been so wrong. Getting rid of Mark before Busey is utter nonsense. Why allow a team to suffer? It is obvious who should have gone. He should have kept Richard Hatch, who is more helpful for the challenges, I find Trump to be loosing rationality on this since he thinks he should run for President. I would have gone along with that until him stating he liked Palin, and will not admit when he is wrong rgarding Obama's birth. Time for Trump to get a "reality" check.

Meat Loaf lasts thru at least Show 9 when they're at the hair salon in NYC.

"Apprentice" has gone from tacky to just plain vulgar. It's time for Trump, the meglomaniac, to rein in his p.r. people on all points.

why is everyone picking on Gary? He's the dark horse in this pony race. The others are whining like old gray mares.
It was good that whiner McGrath got the spur.

Are you as obtuse as Busey? I mean, really...dark horse is an understatement. He's clearly socially, communicatively and intellectually impaired. He does actual damage. He has no real social grace and no ability to edit himself, and he's a compulsive liar. He should've been fired long ago. He's friggin' nuts.

BUT, McRath made a mistake. In 'the Donald's' world, you don't take personal responsibility for anything unless you want to be fired. AND Busey makes for ratings - people turn in just to see him fired. Same for the insipid, brainless LaToya. That woman couldn't decide when to get up in the morning, I think. But she was saved this time only because the other team was so off base.

I think that the only woman with any class is Marley Matlin. And the guys? Well, even though I don't care for country music OR RAP in the least, I have to say that John Rich and Lil Jon are absolutely brilliant.

First of all, The Donald is extremely smart (and that kind of pains me to admit...LOL!) in that it is smart television to keep a train wreck like Gary Busey alive for another week.

Secondly, yeah, Gary Busey might have been an excellent actor but that is in the past. He has always been a live wire and unpredictible and that NEVER had anything to with his motorcycle accident. It had more to do with drug and alcohol abuse and his personality. The accident probably increased his unpredictability and erratic behavior, though. Sure, accidents happen to people, but he CHOSE to ride without a helmet, so essentially, he CHOSE to suffer brain damage.

Thirdly, he definitely should NOT have approached the Australian Gold people for a job while he is doing CA. I do believe team Backbone should have won because they were more creative, even without include the koala bear mascot. I suspect Gary Busey 'holding the executives hostage' probably did more to cause that loss than anything else.

Say what you want about Donald Trump, but the man knows the value of entertainment and how to build it. I do have to admit that he has been very fair-minded regarding all the shenanigans on BOTH sides.

I don't care for Trump either. Not in the least. But geez, I have to admit the guy seems to be dealing with children sometimes. Ne Ne and LaToya? Freaks and egomaniacs. Star? She's just there to self-promote. And Busey as you said, was this way BEFORE his accident. He's an idiot and a creep.
