Soap News: Roger Howarth Returns to 'OLTL' and More
The rumors were true. Emmy-award winning actor Roger Howarth is returning to 'One Life to Live.' Howarth, who was most recently Paul Ryan on 'As the World Turns,' was originally Todd Manning on 'OLTL' from 1992 through 2003 (with some time off in between). But he's back now."We are thrilled to have Roger return to 'One Life to Live,'" said Frank Valentini, executive producer. "As 'OLTL' viewers know, Trevor St. John has been playing the role of Todd Manning since 2003. We have a great story planned that will involve both actors."
Howarth was dynamic as Todd Manning, a character as complex as he is compelling. But currently the role is being played by Trevor St. John, and Trevor is not leaving 'OLTL.' The question on the mind of fans everywhere is this: if Howarth resumes the role of Todd, who has Trevor been playing all these years?
This tantalizing storyline is just what 'OLTL' needs to entice viewers and boost ratings in the face of the threats of cancellation. There's every reason to believe that we're going to see a storyline that will address Todd's supposed plastic surgery that was revealed when Trevor came on the show initially as Walker Laurence.
Perhaps Trevor was never Todd at all, just a gifted impersonator. It'll take some fancy storytelling to unravel this history. For instance, if Trevor's Todd wasn't the real Todd Manning, why did he get so emotional about Marty to the point of nursing her after the car crash?
The fans will be psyched about this new development, and so is the star. Howarth said in a statement, "I am looking forward to returning to 'OLTL.' We are going to have a lot of fun telling this story, and I am excited to see how it will unfold."
Sean Sticking Around as Shawn
Actor Sean Blackmore, 'General Hospital''s Shawn Andrews, will be staying on the soap for an extended period of time. Soap Opera Digest has reported that the actor, who's been playing Josslyn's bodyguard and the former mercenary for the Balkan, has been upped to contract status.
Watch for Shawn to get more involved with the Cointhos and Zacchara mob actitives, as well as become a potential love interest for Carly. Those heart to heart talks they've been having seem to be leading to something more intense, especially since Jax seems to be out of the picture.
Zimmer's Life Between the CoversCurrently, Kim Zimmer is 'One Life to Live''s conniving Echo DiSavoy, but for decades she tore through daytime TV as the slut of Springfield, Reva Shayne, on 'Guiding Light.' Now, she's ready to tell us all about her journey.
A four-time Emmy-winning soap queen, Zimmer has written her memoir and it's coming out this summer. You can pre-order 'I'm Just Sayin': Three Deaths, Seven Husbands and a Clone! My Life as a Daytime Diva' online at Amazon right now ... or wait for it to hit the shelves.
I'm sure you'll be able to get a copy signed because La Zimmer will be hawking the book at in-person appearances because she's a smart cookie and that's how to move product!
Seriously, this should be a terrific read because Zimmer's a great talker with anecdotes to spare. She's a no-nonsense interview and I expect her book will be just as entertaining. Officially, it'll be available Aug. 2.
Jenni Flips for Wedding Biz on 'The Young and the Restless'
'Flipping Out''s Jenni Pulos will be acting on 'The Young and the Restless' in May, playing a wedding planner for Ashley and Tucker's nuptials, reports SheKnows.com.
Pulos, who's better known as Jeff Lewis's no. 1 assistant on the Bravo reality show, is an actress by trade, so it's not too surprising that she's landed a guest role on 'Y&R.' It should be something fun and funny. By the way, next season Jenni will be joining Jeff on a new Bravo show, 'Interior Therapy With Jeff Lewis.'
