Zev & Mallory, 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business'['The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' - 'You Don't Get Paid Unless You Win' (Varanasi, India)]

The game kept 'The Amazing Race' teams in India for one more leg, but moved them into a more spiritual realm with the shift in scenery from Kolkata to Varanasi. Along the Ganges River, Varanasi is a city where people live and come for religious and spiritual enlightenment.

It's also just as crowded, if not more so, than Kolkata, which made Zev incredibly uncomfortable. Not a lot is made of Zev's Asberger's Syndrome, but you know it has to have an impact on him in some of these situations. Nevertheless, he never really falters because of it. Mallory helped him out at one point with some earplugs to drown out the crowds.

Another equalizer had all the teams, save one, arriving in Varanasi at the same time which meant more shuffling on the leaderboard. In past seasons, even with those regular equalizers, there were some clear frontrunners who would tend to surge to the front of the pack with every leg. It must be because this is a season of "all-stars" who've run the Race before, but the competition seems to be rather evenly matched at this point.

While most of the teams ensured they were on the earliest arriving flight from Kolkata to Varanasi, one team seemed content to simply take the first flight offered to them. They said it was because they generally trust what people tell them as truthful.

Of course, that can only be Jet and Cord. The cowboys' niceness is sometimes too much. Luckily, they are such strong competitors in most of the challenges, not to mention that they literally run every chance they can get to make up time, being an hour behind wasn't such a hurdle for them to overcome.

They caught up at the Road Block and even avoided finishing it last. While the other teams sifted through the very crowded streets to find the brightly garbed religious figures, Ron overthought things. When he couldn't find them immediately, he decided maybe they'd gone down to the river to cool off. Because 'The Amazing Race' always has the local participants wander away from their tasks and go about their regular lives.

Jen, 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business'"Oh, the guy with your clue? He went home to have dinner." Come on, Ron! Keep your head in the game.

Kisha and Jen came out of the Road Block in first, but slipped at the Detour when they had to get their hands dirty in manure. The heat and the smell led to the sisters sparring, but they got it together.

The Detour gave teams a choice between feeding the fire or the buffalo. Ironically, the fire one involved manure while the buffalo task seemed much easier. Fire had teams slapping 50 manure patties onto a wall and then loading a stove and starting a fire, while the latter task involved simply carrying two light bundles of hay across town. The greatest risk those teams faced was the cows wandering around eating their hay before they got to their destination.

When Big Easy was hoisting his bundle over his head, it seemed like the second time his height might have given the Globetrotters an advantage. Big Easy did the earlier Road Block and with his height he was able to see over most of the crowd, thus making the Sadhus easier to pick out.

The pair worked with Zev and Justin, helping the four of them finish quickly, but those long legs of the Globetrotters pushed them to a first-place finish, with Zev and Justin coming in behind them. It was the first time they'd won a leg of the Race, and an impressive last-to-first reversal from last week.

Neither challenge seemed all that difficult this week, other than navigating crowded streets and having to dig through manure. I guess that makes it reflective of the crowded nature of life in India, but neither was particularly physically taxing or mentally challenging. As long as you could find stuff you were going to be just fine.

Kent & Vyxsin, 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business'That's why Ron struggled at the Road Block, and Kent and Vyxsin struggled toward the end as they couldn't find the Pit Stop. It was kind of funny watching Vyxsin freak out and jump out of the water taxi because she was so sure it wouldn't get them to the Pit Stop, only to have Ron and Christina intentionally choose the water taxi.

Fancy editing made it look close for the final two, but maybe Vyxsin was right and the goths got there way before the father/daughter duo. The pair barely stayed alive, but if they don't tone down the drama they won't be around much longer. Their best legs only saw them coming in fifth place, and that won't be good enough much longer.

FINISHING ORDER:
1) Flight Time/Big Easy
2) Zev/Justin
3) Kisha/Jen
4) Gary/Mallory
5) Jet/Cord
6) Kent/Vyxson
7) Ron/Christina [Phil-iminated!]

Cristina should have known better than to allow Ron to do the road block, that man is so senile he cannot do anything on his own! Oh well, he's gone home where he belongs - poor Cristina. This race is proving to be quite entertaining, and the players are getting better at competing. The cowboys are my favorites so far!
