'Deadliest Catch' Crew Spreads Captain Phil Harris's Ashes at Sea (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Apr 13th 2011 8:10AM
Before the start of the new fishing season on 'Deadliest Catch' (Tue., 9PM ET on DSC), there's an important ceremony to attend: a burial service for Captain Phil Harris, who died of a stroke last season.

His son Josh says Phil wanted his ashes spread at sea: "The tides will carry him wherever he wanted to go."

On the season 7 premiere, all the boats gather in a circle. After his ashes are launched from the Cornelia Marie, crew members fire pistols and set off fireworks in his honor.

"Safe journey, man."
