Prince Talks Covers on 'Lopez Tonight'On 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS), Prince opened up about all the covers of his songs and an industry loophole that "doesn't exist in any other art form -- be it books, movies..."

"I don't mind fans singing the songs. My problem is when the industry covers the music," he said. "A lot of times, people think I'm doing a Sinéad O'Connor song ['Nothing Compares 2 U'] and Chaka Khan songs, when in fact I wrote those songs."

"It's OK when my friends ask to do them," he continued. "But there's this thing called a compulsory license law, which allows artists through the record companies to take your music at will without your permission ... There's several versions of 'Kiss' and 'Purple Rain.'"

Lopez said, "And there should be one version of music." Prince replied, "You would think."
