Despite Heated Rhetoric, Michelle Obama Stresses Unity on 'The View' (VIDEO)

Electoral politics is a nasty business, and there is no bigger target for invective than those who occupy the Oval Office. Monday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), First Lady Michelle Obama said she prefers to focus on the positive. Appearing alongside Second Lady Jill Biden, Mrs. Obama said that despite the heated rhetoric, she has a positive experience when she's out in public, meeting regular people."What we have to do in this country is remember who we are," she said. "That's the reason why I like to travel and to get out, because, look, no matter what people say, when they see you, they're excited and they're proud."
Having detractors, she went on, is just part of the process. "But we're one country, and I think people know that," she said. Even so, Mrs. Obama has been working out to prepare for the rigors of the campaign trail.
