Lane Garrison was a rising star with a regular role on the Fox drama 'Prison Break' in 2006 when he made the decisions that led to his vehicular manslaughter conviction in 2007. A teenager died in a Land Rover Garrison was driving while drunk. Garrison spoke of the incident on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) this morning, including his guilty plea.Garrison held himself up as an example of the tragedy that can happen when someone drives drunk. He mentioned media coverage that quoted him complaining about jail and said that was not the full message: "The message was really, 'Hey, if you don't want to go through what I just went through and if you don't want a family feeling that pain that they just went through, then don't drink and drive."
Garrison pleaded guilty before being sentenced to 40 months in prison. He was released in 2009. "That was the first time I really became a man," said Garrison, "when I accepted responsibility."
