Blake Lewis: 'Haley Reinhart Has My Vote' on 'American Idol'

by Blake Lewis, posted Apr 21st 2011 4:18PM
Last night, I had a bunch of fellow Idols over for the show. My girl, Jordin Sparks made her way over, Kim Caldwell, Brandon Rogers, Didi Benami, Todrick Hall, Antonella Barba, Paul Kim, Alex Lambert and Michael Johns. We all had a blast watching the show. We were loud, fighting over which performances we liked (most of the time it wasn't a fight, as we all agreed). It was awesome!

Some past Idols from earlier this season came out and rocked a group number at the top of the show. Seeing Pia for just one glimpse made me happy. She should be out in front rocking it. America really got it wrong with that girl. The show started out with Scotty and during his performance I struggled to understand the lyrics. I think the mix was just really bad at the start of the evening. He sounded fine, but I wasn't blown away.

James Durbin saved the night for me as far as song selection. He gave a stellar performance with a marching band singing Muse. I loved it and if he keeps going this route he will make it into the finale. Those high notes were ridiculous.

Following James was Haley Reinhart singing Adele's "Rolling In The Deep." This is one of my favorite songs, right now, and I had my fingers crossed that Haley would pull through and she did! She slayed it! Every week this girl surprises me. This was one of her best performances so far on the show. Besides the low end of her voice being a little rough, she killed it. What a great direction and song for her voice. This was my favorite performance of the night and everyone at my house agreed.

Casey Abrams is the last performer I'll chat about. His version of Maroon 5's "Harder To Breathe" was rock solid. I thought this was a good look on his part. Something contemporary at this point in the competition, when he's been doing jazz, was critical and he did a great job. I like not knowing what to expect – he keeps us guessing.

As for the other Idols, everyone gave an okay performance, but I just didn't feel anything from them. All the Idols are so good this season, that each week my opinions change about them!

Who do you think is going home? Stefano???

Love and Happiness.

BL

P.S. Haley was my vote, this week.

I think Stefano, Jacob, and Lauren will be in the bottom 3, but then again, you just can't second guess it this year.

Durbin has more talent and stage pizzazz in a hang nail.... than 1 trick pony McCreedy , a stage spazz......will have in his lifetime....So happy the judges FINALLY came out of their season long coma and BUSTED the Garner Grit ...for another boring..safe...S O S.performance.....
