'Desperate Housewives' Season 7, Episode 19 Recap
['Desperate Housewives' - 'The Lies Ill-Concealed']This week's episode didn't have many OMG! and WTF? moments but it did move along a few interesting storylines to help set the mood for May Sweeps!
This week, Felicia continued to put her players in place to seek revenge, Gaby and Bree did not follow Carlos' wishes, Susan had dreams about a man who is not Mike, while Lynette was a "plus one."
Felicia deserves an Oscar for her acting skills, no? She skillfully guilted Karen into not only agreeing to have coffee but had her believe that Paul was the one who used Beth to get back at Felicia and not the other way around. She was even able to have Karen agree to keep an eye on Paul so he won't be able to make another woman suffer as he did with Mary Alice, Martha, and Beth!!!
My gut feeling is that Felicia may try to use Karen to do her bad deeds so that she (Felicia) doesn't end up going back to jail. After all, a few years back Felicia was able to convince Karen to do quite a bad deed: Lie to the police. In flashbacks, we discovered that on the night that Felicia faked her death and ensured that the finger (pun intended) would be pointed at Paul, that Felicia convinced Karen not to tell the police that this was a set up.
So if Karen agreed to lie for Felicia so to have Paul pay, who says she won't do it again down the road to finally have him go behind bars for life? Maybe Felicia will even use Susan and Paul's rekindled friendship to make Karen think that Paul will be bad for Susan and that he may kill her as he killed Martha?
One OMG! moment of the week was definitely that of Gaby choosing Bree instead of Carlos at the end of the episode. Carlos was right when he told her that he always felt left out and that she would choose her friends over him. I doubt Gaby made a caculated move when she decided to seek shelter at Bree's. However, having brought the girls over may be what will have Carlos eventually go back on his decision to prevent Gaby from talking and seeing Bree so that he can get his daughters back.
Then again, Carlos could turn this into one rather ugly divorce and custody hearing where all their dirty laundry will get out. One thing is certain, until Carlos makes a decision, we will be in for quite a treat to see Gaby and her girls live under Bree's roof! I can already hear a few expensive China set pieces being dropped on the floor by Celia or Juanita!
Other tidbits:
- Don't know about you, but I think I'll have a few nightmares of Paul and Susan together! Weren't those scenes horrific?!
- Paul and Susan becoming buddies is a tad weird but can offer us a few fun storylines as they are total opposites and have so much history (mostly bad) together. I would love for Mary Alice to say exactly what she thinks of the storylines instead of narrating them for once! Not sure she would be supportive of Susan befriending Paul!
- Lee being a "plus one" and one of the girls was hilarious! We need more Lee screentime, no?
- Lynette being a "plus one" was a tad annoying as she kept complaining but it did offer us a few fun scenes. Tom and Lynette surely were too excited to read all the details in the conference brochure before going as it's a given that "plus ones cannot attend conferences" was written somewhere in there!
- From the look on Lynette's face when Renee suggested that she becomes a "First Wife," it looks like Lynette will try her best to reach that status. Such a position in the "plus one" ladder would probably allow her to attend the conferences instead of making flower arrangements, going to the spa, and drinking cocktails with the other wives.
Memorable quotes:
- "When did they let you out?" - Karen to Felicia
- "You look like you've seen a ghost!" - Roy to Karen
- "I'm so lucky to have a friend like you." - Felicia to Karen
- "No, he killed me?" - In a flashback, Felicia to Karen as to what Paul did
- "Susan was having dreams about sex.... and they were becoming a nightmare! - Mary Alice
- "If it's anything as my post-cancer sex, you're in for a treat." - Karen to Susan
- "That's the bitch who stole my laynard and my clothes!" - Meg about Lynette
- "Ugly + Money = Handsome." - Renee
- "You can be a wife or you can be a First Wife." - Renee to Lynette
- "If only "trust" were so easy to make." - Gaby to Carlos about how easy it was to bake the cake
