Jon Stewart Calls Out Media For Relentless Coverage of Donald Trump (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Apr 26th 2011 1:45PM
On 'The Daily Show' (weekdays, 11 PM ET on Comedy Central), John Stewart called the media for paying too much attention to the bizarre political posturing of Donald Trump.

"They have to put Donald on every show, spewing the craziest s--t he can think of, because Donald's poll numbers are high, mostly because they keep putting on television to spew the craziest s--t he can think of," Steward explained.

"Of course the media's reasoning would only be suspect if polls at this point in the process were completely and totally meaningless," Stewart said, before going to his famous video archive and providing ample evidence that polls of primary voters 18 or 19 months before a general election often have no relationship to who eventually becomes the nominee.

In previous election cycles, Rudy Giuliani, Joe Lieberman, Mario Cuomo and Jesse Jackson were all among early front-runners in primary polls, Stewart's research proved. However, none of those candidates ended up getting anywhere close to grabbing their party's nomination, a fate Stewart obviously suspects will also befall Trump.
