'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: Week Six Elimination
Wow. Just "wow." That's all I have to say about this week's 'Dancing With the Stars' results show.OK, I'm kidding. I do have more to say ... because Guilty Pleasures week literally blew my mind. A pre-show Hanson bonus? 'American Idol' castoff Pia Toscano and rumored boyfriend Mark Ballas performing together? A New Kids on the Block-Backstreet Boys super-group mash-up (aka NKOTBSB, as they call themselves)? Cha-ching!
The over-the-topness of the night softened the blow of the big WTF moment when it came down to the elimination. Really, voters? You saved Kendra Wilkinson once again? Shame on you!
Caught in the crossfire of Kendra's busty, booty-shakin' stripper-esque performance was poor Chris Jericho, who danced his last dance Monday night after pulling in the lowest scores. This was the third time he sweated it out under the spotlight as one of the bottom two, so it wasn't a total shock he went home. But, seriously, Kendra should have been the one who got the boot.
Admittedly, even if Kendra had been kicked off this week, chances are Chris would go in the next round. So, what was truly troublesome was that personal favorite Ralph Macchio found himself in the bottom two for the first time.
Ralph started out so strong this season, but now each week he seems to take a step backward. Yeah, this week's setback technically wasn't his fault, since his partner, Karina Smirnoff, was the one who messed up, but overall it's looking less and less like he'll walk away with the mirrorball trophy. Though there's still hope he'll make it to the finals at least.
But let's get back to the Kendra situation, because it's really upsetting that she keeps skirting elimination. For some reason, the judges and viewers want her to stick around. However, at this point, it's really all about the show's producers pushing her forward each week.
Her safe status became obvious during a special hour-long recap that aired before the results show. The writing was on the wall as soon as a group of female pros shimmied onto the dance floor wearing the same skimpy outfit she wore during her 'Livin' la Vida Loca' routine, and judge Bruno Tonioli picked her as the season's "dark horse."
Then the judges collectively chose her lead-footed table dance as their favorite performance of the week. Tough nut Len Goodman even called it "unbelievable" and one of the series' "hottest dances ever." Are you kidding me?
I had nothing against Kendra before she joined this season of 'DWTS,' but her bad attitude in week four and the way the judges have consistently swooned over her sloppy footwork has made me a hater. If she doesn't go home next week, this season is doomed.
