'American Idol': Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery Take It 'Up on the Roof' (VIDEO)

Lauren Alaina & Scotty McCreery, 'American Idol'To help pad their 90-minute running time, the producers of 'American Idol' (Wed., 8PM ET on FOX) added duets to this week's performance episode.

While Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart got to add fuel to the speculation that they're dating, and Jacob Lusk and James Durbin proved that two big voices don't always come together smoothly, the young country crooners were a natural fit.

Scotty McCreery took second voice, according to Jennifer Lopez, behind Lauren Alaina on 'Up on the Roof.' After being encouraged to push herself vocally, Lauren did just that this week and we were impressed with her power and control in the upper register.

'American Idol' airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8PM ET on FOX.

We've loved Alaina's voice since her first audition, but it was great to see her finally gaining the confidence she should have had months ago. If she keeps bringing this level of intensity and passion, she could surge all the way to the end.

Scotty is an exceptional talent, YES, HE COULD be the American Idol, BUT, he is STUCK on
ONE GENRE, Country, and in order to be the Idol, he should be more flexable, BUT, HE will definetly have many offers in the music industry, no doubt, Good Luck Scotty, you are very talented

Lauren is absolutely the best singer. I love to hear her sing just about anything and I replay her selections each week. She deserves to win because she is the epitomy of what is right in young people. I hope she picks perhaps a Taylor Swift song for NOW and maybe a country version of "Be My Baby" for the THEN. I will love whatever she chooses. Keep it going, girl!

i like scotty,talent young guy.id bet he do good singing a jonnie cash song.hes got the deep voice.i hope he makes it to the the top two.work it,so you and james can be the top two.

How can Scotty go from "a star is born" to" boring" and then back to excellent. He has a wonderful voice and should go much further than a "American Idol " Casey is just a creation of the judges! Lauren is great for a sixteen year old. Also she is so sweet, she grows on you.Jacob is not endearing enough to get a following, but tons of talent. Haley is also being elavated by the judges. She was totally out of sinc with her backup,but the judges chose to ignor it. James appears to be as nice a person as a talent. His last song was truly magnificant. Bottom three: Haley,Casey and last and out Jacob

James Lauren and Scottie are the top 3. Lauren and Scottie wil ldo well in the Country music field. James wll do well in concerts.
