Meredith Vieira Eats Chocolate Covered Scorpion on 'Today'On 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC), Natalie Morales and correspondent Kate Maxwell meet up with Meredith Vieira at Archipelago Restaurant in London, an establishment known for unusual dining and also reportedly a favorite of Prince William's. While there, the ladies dine on an array of exotic food, including alligator, crickets and scorpions.

"You want to try a little alligator wrapped in a vine?" Vieira asked Morales. ""Stick it in your mouth."

After Morales did so, Vieira asked incredulously, "Why would you eat that? It is awful!"

Not to be outdone, Vieira then decided to gulp down a chocolate covered scorpion. "I think I'm going to vomit," she said, before popping the entire animal in her mouth.

Practically ANY insect is not only edible, but often tasty (!) when deep fried and/or seasoned, or chocolate-covered like she had.

Go for it. "Unusual protiens" are welcomed in other cultures--not everyone can dine on beef, pork and chicken daily (and many of those who do don't want to know how the protein they enjoy gets from the farm to the table).
