'American Horror Story' just found its male lead: Dylan McDermott has been cast in the new drama pilot for FX from 'Glee' co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy. The deal, first reported by Deadline, also gives McDermott -- fresh off failed TNT drama 'Dark Blue,' but best known for his Golden Globe-winning role on 'The Practice' -- the chance to develop, write and possibly star in another FX series.
McDermott will play Ben Harmon, described as a handsome and masculine but sensitive therapist who loves his family but has hurt his wife. 'Friday Night Lights' alum Connie Britton has already been cast as Ben's gorgeous wife Vivien, who is a force to be reckoned with.
Oscar winner Jessica Lange has also been cast as the Harmon's nosy neighbor, a role that became much meatier since she signed on. And 'True Blood' baddie Denis O'Hare will play burn victim named Larry, dubbed "Larry the Burn Guy," in the pilot.
The pilot was written by Murphy and Falchuk, and Murphy is on tap to direct once production wraps on their hit Fox series, 'Glee.' And that's kind of all anyone knows --they've been pretty hush-hush about the rest of the show.
Interesting casting, don't you think? Does it make you more excited to see what the show's all about?
