After all the circumstance and excitement building up to the Royal Wedding (Fri., 6AM ET on CNN), the ceremony itself was really quite traditional. Prince William and Kate Middleton exchanged traditional vows. There was only one ring, and a brief moment of resistance as William pushed it onto Kate's hand. There were no major hiccups and no major surprises, which is good news for everyone in attendance. It was as beautiful as anticipated, and yet you could feel a strange sense in the air when they were pronounced husband and wife. After all this, the moment was over.
But of course, it won't be over at all as now we have Royal newlyweds to watch as they take their first steps into the world as the newly titled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. We thought the ceremony was the perfect blend of sophistication, class and simplified approachability.
It was a very smart and modern affair, with a gorgeous dress and bride to match. These are the next generation of Royals in Britain, and at the site of the funeral of William's mother Diana, they couldn't have had a more touching and beautiful tribute to her life and legacy.
