'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' Season 10 Premiere Grabs Big Ratings

by Chris Harnick, posted May 2nd 2011 5:10PM
Law & Order: Criminal Intent'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' returned -- with original stars Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe -- to a whopping 5.1 million viewers, up 43 percent from last season.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, 'Criminal Intent' rose by double digits in key demographics. The show was watched by 1.88 million adults 18–49, up 35 percent. In the 25–24 demo the show was watched by 2.04 million, up 21 percent and in the 18–34 demo 632,000 tuned in, up 31 percent from last year.

With ratings this big for a 10-year-old show, can viewers expect an 11th-season reprieve? Despite USA's announcement that this 10-episode season would be the last, Dick Wolf has gone on record indicating hope for a new season of 'Criminal Intent.'

Wolf said he hoped "enough fans will come out so the powers that be reconsider their decision."

Meanwhile, Mary McCormack's 'In Plain Sight' was up 1 percent. The premiere was watched by 3.87 million viewers.

All I can say is DITTO to all the comments I have read! There will ALWAYS be just ONE GOREN AND EAMES!!!! Their characters pair up together and play off each other so well you just CAN NOT replace the detectives and expects us to be happy with the change. When the past seasons hit and the showed less of Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe the show was unbearable to watch. That is why season ten came out with the big bang; the originals were back and at their best. Unbeatable, unstoppable, and always leaving you with a what will happen next episode or the new season! For Law and Order CI there can be ONLY ONE AND THAT'S THE TEAM OF VINCENT D'ONOFRIO AND KATHRYN ERBE!!!!

Please bring back law and order criminal intent WITH GOREN AND EAMES. It is one of the best shows ever on tv. SVU is good too, but the same old rape themes week after week has gotten very old.

I am glad that the powers that be got dick wolf to trust the fans and get Vincent and Kathryn back. Great on the ratings after the first eposide aired. I hope this will help Dick Wolf to keep in mind to have season 11. So glad that Dick asked Vincent to come back and he said yes. Glad that Kathyrn decided to come back as well. Vincent had twitted to his fan who knows this might not be the last season anything possible. Who said to us fans if you want more you have to voice it to the people in charge. It also depends on the ratings anything possible we just have to wait and see. I hope Dick sees that the fans wonts more and hope that this is not the end just yet. Imean for awhile yet or as long as Vincent and Kathryn wants to do it. Keep up the great work VDO and KE aka Goren and Eames. Good Luck to the both of you and the show. Love those scenes with the doc. Yes I too would love to see another season. Thanks Dick Wolf,The Writers,Vincent and Kathryn and all that are involved with the show.

Sooo thrilled to see the original team of D'Onofrio -Erbe. They made the show. Also, this season's writing and acting is superb.

Hope the show stays on for a few more season at least. It is just too good to take off the air.

Yes! It could be formatted like "Men of a Certain Age" where they appear to be doing blocks of 5 episodes (and calling it a "season"). This way D'Onofrio can have the time to make a couple of movies a year, and still maintain the role of Goren. Goren and Eames are a great team. The writers have done a wonderful job of defining the characters. By season 9, Goren had become a little too brooding and contemplative. But, the 2011 season has breathed new life into both characters (although Eames seems to have distanced herself a little from Goren). I am thoroughly enjoying the new episodes!! Thank you!

No more spin-offs or new characters leave the shows as they were intended with the characters that made them famous.
Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe make an incredible team, The team of SVU Mariska Hargitay, Christopher Meloni, Ice-T, Tamara Tunie, Richard Belzer can't be changed they just belong together, and the original Law and Order, what can I say? I would rather watch a million re-runs of any of these shows then any other crap on tv today!

ABSOLUTELY, more! D'Onofrio was that show and always will be. It seems this time around though, his acting is back to the way it used to be when the show first started. Towards the end of what everyone thought was the final season, he just seemed unhappy and didn't move too much. Seems happier now. I would have liked to have seen them do a special scene between him and Erbe. I mean on their last episode it was kind of a tearjerker with them saying goodbye. I just would have liked to have seen more detail into the explanation of those two being brought back. Then again, I don't care why, as long as they did! and hopefully will continue for a few more seasons.
