Kate Gosselin and her brood headed to Philadelphia to take in some American history this week on 'Kate Plus 8' (Mon., 10PM ET on TLC). While there, the kids taught us a few things we didn't know. Do you know why the president raises his right hand during the oath of office?

According to Gosselin's kids, the right hand is the liberty hand! Look which hand the Statue of Liberty is holding aloft. It all makes sense. Sorry all you left-handed folks, but we don't know yet what that hand is. Maybe the freedom hand?

While there, they also got to pretend to take the oath of office themselves, and get their picture taken. Gosselin even got one of herself getting sworn in. "I had it on the front of my phone for a while, me being the next president," she smiled. "We'll leave that to Sarah Palin."
