Fox Announces 'Glee' Movie (In 3D!)

by Jean Bentley, posted May 4th 2011 3:35PM
Glee'Glee' on the big screen? Yep, it's true. The New Directions gang is heading to the movies.

20th Century Fox announced today that it will release 'GLEE LIVE! 3D!,' a feature film culled from footage that will be shot during this summer's upcoming 'Glee Live! In Concert!' tour. The 3D extravaganza will enjoy a two-week theatrical run beginning Aug. 12.

'Glee' co-creator Ryan Murphy said in a statement that the film will allow Gleeks who couldn't get tickets to the concert tour a chance to experience the madness firsthand.

"There were only so many cities we could get to," Murphy said in a statement. "We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity. Now, thanks to our friends at Twentieth Century Fox Film, we'll be able to bring the concert experience to movie theaters across the country in full three dimensional glory. We promise every passionate Gleek a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles."

According to the press release, "The movie will capture the unique concert experience along with special moments involving the characters themselves." (We take that to mean behind-the-scenes footage and/or in-character skits.)

All of the show's main cast members (including newbies Chord Overstreet, Ashley Fink and Darren Criss) will sing songs from season 2, including 'I'm a Slave 4 U,' 'Teenage Dream' and original songs 'Loser Like Me' and 'Hell to the No.' We're sure they'll also include some of season 1's greatest hits -- what would a 'Glee' show be without some Journey?

Tell us: Will you see the 'Glee' movie? Are you going to a show this summer?

Let's see, singing and dancing, accepting all people for who they are... yes I can see how that's SO MUCH WORSE from porn, hate, and violence.... I fail to see how this is brainwashing. They are talented, I'd love to see you sing and/or dance as well as them. I know I can sing, but not nearly as good as any of them. Just because you are not interested in the show does NOT make them untalented. I'd rather have my children watch something positive, than let them see the ugly that is the world. A child does not need to be around violence, hate, war, discrimination... These are all ugly things, at least Glee is getting positive messages across to kids. All stuff they can relate to. Think of it in that perspective, not as "ohh this show is crap because these kids are singing and dancing blah blah bullshit." Trust me. this is hardly brainwashing considering all the other junk that's on TV.
