Ralph Macchio Dances Through an Injury on 'Dancing with the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 10th 2011 12:19AM
Karina Smirnoff & Ralph Macchio, 'Dancing with the Stars'The top five couples took to the stage on 'Dancing with the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC) this week, but one of the celebrities didn't get the practice time he was used to.

"At this point in a normal week, Ralph and I would have at least put in 40 hours of rehearsal already," said Ralph Macchio's partner Karina Smirnoff. "We've only done nine because of Ralph's leg injury."

Macchio had a cyst rupture behind his knee, but he wasn't going to let that stop him on the dance floor. He limped to and from the judges, but there was little evidence of his injury during either of his dances, though he did struggle a bit in the judges' remarks.

He also wound up with the overall lowest marks of the night, with a combined total of 46 points for his two dances combined. Did Macchio do enough to stave off elimination? Will his fans rally to his aid?

The change in hairdo has been a great improvement. At first Ralph looked pale, sloppy and not at all sure of himself sort of like the character he played wipe on and wipe off. He still looks a little stiff in the dancing, but I am rooting for him.

Wow skudaarkaat...they aren't fighting a war. I was there too. The guy is 50 years old. And, he is still the best dancer next to Chelsea. He is gracious and he never looks like he's full of angst. If he does not win or come in at least second then something is very wrong. I think the judges are transparently prejudiced at times. Kristie Alley should have been voted off probably last week. But she has entertainment value and apparently the voting audience likes her. She's a "bad girl" and people like that. But she is no dancer although she has improved tremendously. I think Hines is much improved but he is still very stiff and over concentrates. He is still a football player in dance shoes (but he deserved kudos for that). Romeo is also improved but there is still that cockiness there that is unflattering and he also over concentrates. If anyone out there voting knows anything about dancing they will vote for Ralph and Chelsea. I still want to see them dance together.

Oh Gosh, what a Hollywood hero! 42 years ago I was involved in a firefight in VietNam and fought 2/3 of it AFTER a zipperhead had smashed me in the mouth with the butt of an AK-47, then, I couldn't get med-evac'd out for another 2 days because we were so remote. Try THAT on for size, Mr. MACHO!
