'Becoming Chaz' Chronicles the Gender Reassignment Journey of Chaz Bono (VIDEO)

It's been a long and arduous journey for Chaz, formerly Chastity Bono. Born to Cher and Sonny Bono 42 years ago, Chastity struggled with her identity for years.

From puberty on, she realized she felt like a man on the inside, but looked like a woman on the outside. 'Becoming Chaz' (Tue., 9PM ET on OWN) chronicled her journey from a woman named Chastity to a man named Chaz.

Chastity began the gender transition process in 2008. Now, when Chaz sees a moment like the surgery that changed his chest from that of a man to a woman, he can see his outside starting to match the inside.

"You know, as a man trapped inside a female shell, I had to just inhabitate that male part of me which was deep inside," he said. "So I was very cut off from the whole world. And now, for the first time, I'm living in my body and it looks the way I want it to."

It was a very moving, and at times graphic, documentary that chronicled not only Chaz's personal transformation, but also showed how his story has impacted other people's lives as well.
