A Bold and Lucky Phone Call Launched Mark Harmon's Career (VIDEO)

Mark Harmon, 'Late Show with David Letterman'It can pay off to just bold moves toward achieving your dreams. It worked for Mark Harmon and look how well he's doing. To think it all took off for him because one day he just decided to call up to Universal Studios and ask for Jack Webb. Even more shocking, according to Harmon on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), Webb took the call.

"I'm always appreciative of that," Harmon said. In fact, he said he hoped he'd do the same for others, so if anyone knows his number and wants to break into show biz, now would be the time to ring him up.

As for David Letterman, don't bother. "Leave me alone!" he shouted to the camera when Harmon asked if he would do the same.

It was a good thing for Harmon that Webb took that call, too, because after a serious horseback accident while filming a commercial, he swore off them for good. Luckily, he had a brighter career ahead of him.

Mark is a nice guy and humble by how he first started - Letterman however, what a donkey butt - he really has a horrible personality - have not watched his show in years and could care less about him

I like Mark Harmon. I'm glad to hear a celebrity gets a part on occasion because of a phone call or audition, unlike Paris Hilton and the Kardashian's by making a sex tape.

people have told me i look like mark harmon, and i went to Harvard Boys School on Colwater Cyn too and Pierce too. I went to many ucla football games at LA colosseum (that ws cool then), maybe i can play him in a bio show, butblike "boys from brazil", i have subpar brown eyes, lol someone get a hold of mark for me w/ my bio idea. thx

Please!!!! a little bit of NOT the whole truth. His Father was a famous football star at the time(um why would Jack Webb take the call). His sister was dating Ricky Nelson. So don't get your hopes up too much. Sorry
And yes I like Mark.

i agree, not like an actor from Nepal w/ 0 connections made 1 lucky call and's now an oscar winner. Mark i think was raised in Hollywood jr.-buuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrbank

You should have made the last paragraphy ;He swore off commercials for good. People will get the impression he swore off horses and we don't know that as fact.
