Regis Philbin announced on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated) that he had recently been contacted by producers to appear on the next season of 'Dancing With the Stars.' However, Philbin didn't appear very excited by the prospect.

"I love it! I'd be paying money to see you in spandex," Kelly Ripa said.

"Would I have to wear spandex?" Philbin asked nervously.

"Every day," replied Ripa, pointing out that such outfits are exceedingly snug "around all the bits and pieces."

As if this wasn't enough to dissuade him, Philbin also seemed concerned about the physical toll the show would take on his body. "My back is killing me right now just thinking about it," he said.

Philbin seemed more excited by the possibility of being paired with professional dancer Derek Hough. "What is so wrong with two guys dancing?" he asked.
