Did Haley Reinhart Come Back and Make Top Three on 'American Idol' (VIDEO)
Haley Reinhart had a rough night Wednesday night with the judges, and Randy Jackson in particular, on 'American Idol' (Thu., 8PM ET on FOX). On the results show, you could see even more clearly how unrattled he'd left her after saying she was "screaming" Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song.'She came out and redeemed herself in the judges' eyes with Ben E. King's 'I (Who Have Nothing),' but did their remarks hurt her chances with America?
Coming into this week, Reinhart had faced the Bottom Three on four separate occasions. Of the other finalists, only Lauren has been in the Bottom, and that was just last week.
!!SPOILER ALERT!!
In other words, Reinhart needed to have an amazing night to work her way into the Top Three and get that "Hometown Hero" welcome promised for next week. Making it more difficult is the stigma of the early dominance of the men. The first five contestants eliminated from the Top 13 were women, so both Lauren and Haley were seen as long-shots for the Finals.
But Lauren was the first one announced safe this week, leaving Haley standing next to Scotty and James. Neither of the guys has ever been in the Bottom, so it seemed inevitable that she'd be the one to go.
Only it wasn't.
"After the nationwide vote," Ryan Seacrest said, "I can tell you two girls will be in the Top Three. Haley, you are safe."
Were you surprised Haley made it? Did you expect both girls to pull the upset over the boys?
