Fox Announces 2011-2012 Schedule

by Jean Bentley, posted May 16th 2011 9:30AM
The X FactorIn advance of this afternoons Upfront presentation in New York, Fox announced its fall 2011 TV schedule this morning. There aren't any big surprises, aside from the 'Bones' spinoff 'Finder' getting its debut at midseason instead of this fall as a contingency plan for Emily Deschanel's pregnancy like many predicted.

The long-delayed 'Terra Nova' finally gets its official debut this fall, with the Steven Spielberg-produced dinosaur show airing Monday nights at 8PM before 'House.' 'The X Factor' takes over 'American Idol''s time slot, and will help launch a new comedy on Wednesday nights.

Another interesting tidbit to note: 'America's Most Wanted' has been discontinued as a regular TV series; after 23 years Fox has decided to bring back the show in the form of occasional specials.

Debuting at mid-season will be 'Alcatraz' from J.J. Abrams, the 'Bones' spinoff 'Finder' and the animated 'Napoleon Dynamite.' The 11th season of 'American Idol' will premiere Sun., Jan. 22 before occupying its same Wednesday and Thursday slots on the schedule.

If you're wondering why your favorite show isn't on here, double-check that it isn't one of the bubble shows Fox pulled the plug on last week.

You are canceling some of the best shows FOX has had...give me a break. You cancel Chicago Code, Human Target and Lie to Me for a show that talks about how mean and awful teenage girls can be..great!!

I was hoping that when I watched the episode on Bones that they had the FINDER that it was going to be a spin-off I really enjoyed it and can't wait for it to come on.

ABC - Very upset you have cancelled "Chicago Code". We thoroughly enjoyed the show and can't understand why it is cancelled. Couldn't it come back as a 2nd season show?

Put Cuddy back on.

Without Cuddy, House will be a flop. We couldn't watch it last night as it was too gory and switched on something else. The shows aren't that good anymore.
I will miss "Chicago Code:. The acting was good and I enjoyed seeing Chicago scenes since that was my home.

Why doesn't Fox add an hour of prime time every night at 10pm(9cst) and bring back Chicago Code, Human Target, Lie to Me, etc....?

I see where the folks in this household will only be turning into FOX on Thursday for Bones and Friday for Fringe. The rest of the lineup they decided to go with sucks. And if this is going to be a trend with other networks I see less and less one hour drama's in site. Looks like all stations are beginning to scrap them also for crap like reality and sitcoms. I think I will invest more in cable shows and sign up again for HBO......
