What to Watch: TV Picks for May 16 - 22
Rarely has a season finale been so beautifully set-up for a guest-star bonanza. With Dwight officially out of consideration for the top job at Dunder Mifflin, Jim is tasked by Jo to form a search committee and start looking for Michael's replacement. Interviewees include Jim Carrey, Will Arnett, Ray Romano, James Spader, Ricky Gervais and more. Kathy Bates is on hand to guide the proceedings. The lead-up episode had very few laughs -- here's hoping this talented crew can send 'The Office' to hiatus with a bang.
Also This Week:
Hawaii Five-O - Monday May 16, 10PM ET/PT, Global/CBS
Fan reports from the set of the season finale have most of the cast made up to look like they've just been through a war -- bruises, cuts and casts abound. The source of the violence is Wo Fat of course, and the Governor throws up her hands, declaring she can't protect the team from his threats anymore. No word (as of this writing) on a season 2 pick-up for the show, which started out with excellent ratings in 2010, but has suffered declining viewership in the new year.
Friday Night Lights - Wednesday May 18, 10PM ET/PT, Global (Friday May 20, 8 PM ET/PT, NBC)
Things are going haywire in Dillon. Let me prove it: in this episode, Coach Taylor is late for a game. I'll let that sink in. For perhaps the first time, we see Coach's home life affect his work life as the news of Julie's college affair has Eric completely flummoxed. Meanwhile, life -- or the writers -- hand Vince a reason to reach out to his Dad, who solves Vince's problem the only way he knows how. How far down the rabbit hole will this lead the Howards? This is Dillon, people. It's going to get pretty dark.
Family Guy - Sunday May 22, 7PM ET/PT Global (9PM ET/PT, Fox)
The Griffins return to their intergalactic roles in Seth MacFarlane's ongoing 'Star Wars' satire. Carrie Fisher and Anne Hathaway guest voice and we get to see Lois in the infamous metal bikini.
