Who Will Die on the 'Castle' Season Finale?

by Maggie Furlong, posted May 16th 2011 6:00AM
Tonight's 'Castle' season finale marks the end of a very fun and very emotional season for Castle, Beckett and the gang.

There's the continuing investigation of Beckett's mother's murder, there were all the laughs with the Nikki Heat movie, the freezer incident and, of course, there was the kiss.

But the Season 3 finale (Mon., May 16, 10PM ET on ABC) is killing off more than a dead body of the week -- tonight, someone who's been on the show since the beginning will die.

Now we know from previews that Castle warns Beckett that she's next to die if she doesn't let go of her mom's death, but let's be real: Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion might get a little banged up, but the show will never kill off its main characters.

So who will it be? Let's take a look at the most likely candidates ...

Captain Montgomery (Ruben Santiago-Hudson)
I think the Captain is the most obvious choice at this point. I mean, they trotted out his wife last week, and he had that whole speech about finally retiring next year to spend more time with her. He doesn't often leave the confines of the precinct, but if he walks out the door, look out for a falling piano or a stray bullet to take him out.

Martha Rodgers (Susan Sullivan)
The thing that gives Castle so much balance is seeing his work life and his home life, but we've been seeing less and less of him taking hilarious motherly advice lately. Could the show be saying goodbye to his mom? Doubt it. Susan Sullivan is a legend.

Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever)
Ryan and Esposito are as much of a duo as Castle and Beckett are on this show, so it's hard imagining either one of them biting the bullet ...

Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas)
... but if it's gonna be one of them, we have been seeing a softer side of Esposito lately. It's not a proven formula, but usually when someone gets a new love interest or announces a big life change, things have a tendency to shift, at least in TV land.

Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones)
How exactly would Lanie get caught in the crossfire? Yeah, we don't know either. Plus, the show would never say goodbye to one of the sassiest MEs on TV. Would they?

Alexis Castle (Molly Quinn)
Alexis' life could be threatened by every crook in New York, she could even be held hostage and I wouldn't think for a second that she would die. Can't happen unless the show wants to take things in a much darker, hopeless, depressing direction. (Please don't prove me wrong.)

So what do you think? Any guesses on who we'll be saying goodbye to tonight? Vote in our poll:

Who do you think will die on 'Castle'?
Capt. Roy Montgomery6293 (87.1%)
Martha Rodgers226 (3.1%)
Kevin Ryan141 (2.0%)
Javier Esposito271 (3.8%)
Lanie Parish202 (2.8%)
Alexis Castle92 (1.3%)

Like in Chuck - I honestly thought they'd kill Sarah but instead she survived and instead of chuck being an almost-billionaire with a real cause (avenging his lost love) he's just an idiot with too much money and time.

Personally - I wish more shows would be willing to kill of main characters. Then we could actually have a differentiation in story lines, but they're too lazy/underpaid for that to happen.

Beckett awakens from her dream, ala "Dallas", and all is well. Everyone lives.

Breaking up the cast in Castle was a big bummer. You finally had a winning show and had to ruin it by having a cliff hanger. Can't any one in Hollywood come up with something more original the killing off a cast member?

Let's be careful. If we show too much support, ABC will cancel the series and leave it all hang in the air.

Law and Order:Criminal Intent killed their captain. Would 'Castle ' copy that? Its logical but cheesy. Alexsis is going to college so who is Martha gonna pair up with? Beckett and Castle will have something in common. I'm liking my own story here....
