Kym Johnson Doesn't Let a Horrible Neck Injury Slow Her Down on 'DWTS' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 17th 2011 12:20AM
Hines Ward & Kym Johnson, 'Dancing with the Stars'It was a night of miracles, and perfect scores, on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC). The most harrowing scene we saw was a catastrophic injury in rehearsal between Hines Ward and Kym Johnson.

"It was a difficult move," Ward said. "I was supposed to swing her through my legs and lift her up and all my weight just came down on the back of her neck."

Johnson was rushed to the hospital and had to practice in a neck brace, but amazingly she was recovered and ready to go by Monday's performance episode. And then, the pair went out and scored a perfect 30 for their opening Tango.

Even a near nip-slip after the performance didn't shake their resolve, as they went on and did it again, closing out the show with another perfect score for their Salsa. It was a dominant night for a couple who'd been so close to having to withdraw from the competition because of injury.

I watched this show this season for the first time; pretty good. BUT if you like this show you have to watch So You Think You can dance. Unbelieveable. My fav is Hines but Chelsea is a close 2nd.

Thank God Kym Johnson wasn't seriously or fatally injured in this routine! My heart goes out to her and to Hines Ward, what an awesome gentleman he is, fine man! Hope he can forgive himself, this was an accident, not his fault, it wasn't deliberate! Thank God, Kym is fine! His emotions after their dance routine made me cry! Professional football player, sensitive and caring, and can certainly move on the dance floor! He's been a joy to watch, I look forward to each routine, he & Kym perform every week. Hines Ward & Kym Johnson deserve to win this season's DWTS. Way to Go Kym & Hines!

Kym did state last night, she wanted to bring the hard moves, it was her idea, and not his fault, that Hines works hard and does what she wants him to in the routines! Seeing Hines emotions after their dance routine, I cried, he's such an awesome gentleman, great performer and caring person, one I enjoy watching each week, he does bring joy and lights up the room with his routines each week! Kym & Hines deserve to win, they've been consistantly great each week, and in my opinion; were robbed of the judges' 15 points for the "Cha-Cha-Cha" routine last night!

Besides the obvious fact that she's outrageously a lot of fun to look at, and extremely talented, this is one tough chick. Even if your not a fan of hers, or the show, she possess a warrior mentality in a very deceptive package. All respect due!

It's amazing that they don't have more injuries than they do. Having amateurs doing lifts, etc is crazy in my book. God bless Kym....... get well soon.
