'Hawaii Five-0' Finale: McGarrett Discovers the Truth About the Governor (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 17th 2011 10:45AM
Jean Smart, 'Hawaii Five-0'Betrayal abounded on the first season finale of the rebooted 'Hawaii Five-0' (Mon., 10PM ET on CBS). McGarrett finally got a piece of the puzzle together when he realized the governor's duplicity and involvement with Wo Fat. This tied her to McGarrett's father's demise.

He even got an admission of guilt in the death of Laura Hills earlier this episode, for all the good it's going to do him. The Governor said she's loyal to the people who are loyal to her. It's a great philosophy, but one that isn't shared by Wo Fat.

He arrives in the nick of time with a taser to take down McGarrett, who had the governor at gunpoint. Now, what to do about him.

"I have everything under control," Wo Fat told the governor, and then killed her. He then planted the murder weapon on McGarrett, assuring him a whole new world of headaches to explore next season.

On a related note, with the demise of her character on 'Hawaii Five-0' and the cancellation of her other recurring gig on '$#*! My Dad Says,' Jean Smart is now available for other gigs. If you're smart, TV producers, you'll snatch her up right away and get her back on our screens. She's simply too gifted to leave on the sidelines for long.

Loved the season 1 finale of Hawaii Five-0!! Exciting, edge-of-your-seat episode!! The cast did an out standing job, especially ALEX O'LOUGHLIN!! The whole team is spit apart and who will get WoFat? Can't wait for next season!!

This episode was a prime reason why I've grown to dislike H5O. First, there's the horrible, horrible acting by Alex O'Loughlin, which is surprising since we've seen him do so much better. Then, there's the completely unrealistic plot. Are we really to believe one man can so easily break into the governor's residence and later take out her entire security team? Yes, this is entertainment, but all good procedurals have some basis in reality. It seems like H5O is trying to to take the place vacated by 24, but they need much better stories if that's their intent. Hopefully, this cliffhanger will afford the writers an opportunity to reboot the premise just a little.

In a show where they get to tie a suspect to the hood of a car, the are shooting for the pure fun and adrenaline audience. The show is fun. Just go with it. haha

Great episode! Can't for next season. I was sad to see Jean Smart go, however. She's amazing in everything she does.
