Daniel Radcliffe and Cast Perform From Their Broadway Play on 'Late Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 20th 2011 2:09AM
Daniel Radcliffe, 'Late Show with David Letterman'Even though Daniel Radcliffe is leaving behind the friends he made at Hogwart's through a decade as Harry Potter, as revealed on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), he's found a new brotherhood, and he gets to sing with them.

Radcliffe has been cast in the Broadway revival of 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.' And to whet our appetites, he brought along some members of the cast and performed one of the production pieces for David Letterman's audience.

One thing we couldn't help noticing was that Radcliffe was noticeably smaller than all of the other guys in the 'Brotherhood of Man.' In a way, though, that height differential worked in his favor, as it made him stand out even more than his crazy suit. He looked like a boy addressing the men around him.

We saw How to Succeed... in NYC last month... we were blown away by the performance. The audience roared and cheered throughout the performance and DR was fantastic.

Robert Morse the original cast member playing J. Pierpont Finch also was very short. Radcliffe hits the notes ok and his accent is a bit more twangy than the original used probably to ease his remembrance to avoid his English accent. But it was much better casting than Radcliffe in Equus. And in this he gets to keep his duds on.

Daniel Radcliffe is wonderful, and talented, and so appealing .. but, boy, is he short! Like Michael J. Fox short (not that it ever hurt him!). I wonder if he was surprised when his fellow Potters grew out of their childhood roles (literally), and he did not.

Glad to see DR isn't going the way of so many child stars, who become spoiled by Hollywood...he has the right attitude and will be around for a long time.

He looks like he should have been cast in Twilight as well as HP. I think a little sun would do him good.
