'American Idol': Scotty vs. Lauren Finale Showdown Preview (Spoilers)
It's safe to say we all know a few things are guaranteed to go down at this season's all-country finale. No matter who wins, J.Lo will cry, Lauren will cry, Lauren's mom will cry (and change hairdos at least twice in the two-hour show), James Durbin will set something on fire and Casey Abrams and/or Haley Reinhart will get their growl on.As for the rest of the show, we've got some info on what the producers and the 'Idols' have in store for the season 10 send-off, including a performance from one of the biggest rock bands of all time and some hints on what we'll be hearing from two of this season's Top 3 on Wednesday night.
- Scotty is singing first. After winning the coin toss, the southern gentleman still let Lauren have her pick and the Georgia teen chose to go second. (Hollywood Reporter)
- Fifteen former 'Idols' will be on hand outside the Nokia theater on Tuesday, as part of the AT&T 'Idol' Celebration. Damn, they could at least let them in the place! Five of the fifteen will perform, including Kimberly Caldwell, Diana DeGarmo, Jason Castro, Blake Lewis and Bo Bice. Elliot Yamin, Ace Young, Tim Urban, Didi Bemani, Scott MacIntyre, Paige Miles, Michael Sarver, Andrew Garcia, Michael Johns and Nikki McKibbin will also be on on the scene to meet and greet fans. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- David Cook will perform season 10 send-off song, "Don't You (Forget About me)" on Wednesday. He'll also be joining this season's Top 13 among others for Simon Fuller's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony today. (Hollywood Reporter)
- U2 will be performing on Wednesday's finale. The band will likely perform songs from "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," and be joined onstage by the stars of the show. (MJs Big Blog)
- Haley Reinhart will sing an original song on the finale. According to Haley's parents, who FOX apparently hasn't told to hush up already, their daughter may release the original tune she'll perform on Wednesday. If the song's a hit, an album will follow. Haley shot down two songs before making her choice. (MJs Big Blog)
- Scotty recently recorded a song written by Tim Nichols, who wrote "Live Like You Were Dying," the titular track from Tim McGraw's 8th studio album. He may perform the single on the finale. (AI Now)
- Remember, the performance show is on Tuesday, this week from 8-9PM ET. Scotty and Lauren will each perform three songs. One will be a personal favorite from the season (Pray Scotty doesn't beat the dead horse that is "Your Man," one more time), the second is Simon Fuller's choice and the third is the song the 'Idol' would record for their first single, should they win. In Scotty' case, we already know it's probably the Tim Nichols' tune.
- Steven Tyler is expected to perform on Wednesday, will he make good on his promise to share the stage with James Durbin?
That's it, Idol fans! What do you think about how the finale's shaping up? Who's really "in it to win it, southern belle, Lauren Alaina or "Your Man" Scotty McCreery? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more 'Idol' coverage as we gear up for the big showdown!
