Edward James Olmos Joins 'Dexter' Cast
Battle stations: Edward James Olmos of 'Battlestar Galactica' will have a major role in the new season of 'Dexter.'Olmos, who was last seen on the small screen playing William Adama on 'Battlestar Galactica,' will play a "brilliant, charismatic professor of religious studies," according to a release from Showtime.
Other guest stars for the sixth season of the Showtime serial-killer drama include Colin Hanks, who'll play an expert on religious artifacts, and Mos (formerly Mos Def), a former prisoner who's found religion.
Hmmm, there's a common thread with these characters - is Dexter joining a monastery?
Speaking of 'Battlestar Galactica' alumni, you may have heard that Mary McDonnell, who played 'BSG's' Laura Roslin, will star in the 'Closer' spinoff 'Major Crimes' in 2012.
Jamie Bambier, who played Lee "Apollo" Adama, will return to the small screen sooner than that: He's one of the stars of "Outcasts," a drama that premieres on BBC America June 18 (and if you've never seen Olmos, McDonnell or Bamber in 'BSG,' that program will be rerun on BBC America beginning June 11.
