Lady Gaga Falls From 'The Edge of Glory' on 'American Idol' Finale (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 26th 2011 1:30AM
Lady Gaga & Mark Kanemura, 'American Idol' finaleAs expected, Laday Gaga kept it weird on the 'American Idol' (Wed., 8PM ET on FOX) season finale. She performed her new single, 'The Edge of Glory,' from atop a makeshift cliff, starting off with a bizarre headpiece that made her head look like it was the same shape as Stewie's from 'Family Guy.'

She stayed up there throughout the entire performance, though she still managed to strike some very shocking poses for a family show. Halfway through the performance, one of her dancers made his way up there with her, and it was none other than former 'So You Think You Can Dance' contestant Mark Kanemura.

He was always such a strange and unique performer on the show, we couldn't have picked a better place for his career to take him. Gaga and he got very intimate as the song came to a close, climaxing with a dramatic fall from the cliff.

Dear Christopher,

Your name comes from the base of the word Christ or Christ-like, he too has had much work to do in spreading the design of what was right and wrong with the world, Alas I beg you great pardon, for my most indecorous word use. In my deep mood about the buggery going on in the world, much of this-- no one can change I did commit the very crime I was upset about... How very unkind of me to make comment of your PERSON, It does not bother me a bit who you are I always say as long as your not boring, clearly you have not been that.. and good for you for putting me on notice. I have been a skunk, I am sorry to all those young and gentle souls and minds that had to read my missives. I do hope that you might be able to see I was trying to have a bit of fun, I also would never wish to show favor to CACA/GAGA-- she's not misunderstood at all-- in fact it's all quite clear-- she has a stage, and thank bloody God-- I do not. Thank you again Mr. Topher (with much RESPECT) for the fun volly it was quite a lark and I enjoyed it very much indeed.
Best to you and yours,

I loved Lady GaGa's performance on American Idol. A true artist. This is what she does!

But I have to agree it was not the right venue for her.

Blame the producers of American Idol for booking her.

Oh my God, I can't believe the kind of comments I'm reading here. Do you guys even understand the meaning of "art"? Because that's what she was doing, telling a story through a song, she was doing something called Performance Art. You know, the avant-garde or conceptual art which grew out of the visual arts. She danced with that man, so what? She kissed the dancer, so what? You call this porn? Oh my God, this is full of closed-minded, sanctimonious, prude people. Get off your high horse!

But well... This just comes to show the double standards in American's conservative society. You guys let kids shoot guns, you send people to the electric chair, and that's NOT disturbing. But a talented singer dances with her dancer and kisses him on stage and you throw a fit. If Gaga had done that on a European family show, these kind of comments wouldn't be happening. Thank God all Americans aren't like that. Thank God.

It was a GREAT performance of a GREAT song. The dance was beautiful, very well done and very artistic. So get over it.

Hi Barbara

I have watched American Idol since the first year it was on. I have never enjoyed a finale as much as this year until "Lady ga ga""put on her disgusting sexual, suicidal display. One reason this show has been so successful is that it has remained classy, edgy sometimes, but never down right ridiculous. This on a show that millions of teens and children see. They have enough going on in their world. They don't need to see "lady"gaga promoting dying for what ever reason she was trying to portray. Was it the guy she was "on the edge" for or was she just a wacko and after she had him, she AND him kill themselves.
Shame on the producers that allowed her to be on that show. She belongs on a strip show or Vegas. Not AMERICAN IDOL! With all the wonderful special talented performers they had on that show, they certainly didn't need to put that trash on to ruin it for so many of your true followers. I think that little stunt might have cost you some viewers. I know I will not be watching it again. This took a great show and lowered it to a porno!

It is good to know that many others feel as I do about Lady Gaga's porno show. American Idol is no place
for her act. I don't think J Lo made any points for herself shaking her butt to the audience. Such a sweet
appearing person as a judge, acting in good taste and then lets it all hang out on stage. Sorry, that is the
way I feel. The two final contestants are not in the category of those performances. There is a time and
place for everything and this was not the time. It was a wonderful, entertaining show. Enjoyed most all of it.

I couldn't have said it any better myself!!! But I am so thankful that the 2 finalists are not acting all sexual etc. up on stage & I hope they continue to stay true to who they are as individuals! Thankfully America now has 2 great very young role models to look up to in the future!!!

It's sad when anyone needs someone on TV to be their role model. Must have some really bad parents.

That was the most disgusting performance that they could have shown. American Idol producers
should be ashamed of themselves. No wonder there are so many sexual crimes and pediphiles
out there. When there are so many talented performers in this country they choose to use this
awful, indecent performer. I not longer will be watching Idol nor will I allow my children or
students to do so,.

I appreciate entertainment without the sexual stuff such as gaga, beyonce and jlo. I mean they can sing so why does sex have to be a part of it?. Can we not keep it seperated? I mean if people are really into that stuff then don't mix it with family entertainment. Come on now ..........
