NBC Extends 'The Voice,' Adds Live Results Shows

by Chris Harnick, posted Jun 2nd 2011 2:10PM
The Voice'The Voice' is getting bigger. Capitalizing on the show's positive buzz, NBC has extended the singing competition and added two live results shows.

On June 22 and 29, NBC will air live broadcasts, with season 1 concluding on the 29th.

NBC is throwing quite a bit of might behind 'The Voice.' The Peacock has already slotted it behind the Super Bowl on Sun., Feb. 5. No word on whether it'll be the season 2 premiere or just a round of blind auditions.

When 'The Voice' debuts its second season early next year, it will be paired with the musical drama 'Smash' starring Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston.

'The Voice,' airing behind 'America's Got Talent,' recently enjoyed a record 14.4 million viewers. The series isn't doing too shabby in the 18-49 demo either. Its most recent episode was seen by 4.9 million viewers in that key demographic.

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will all be back as coaches next year.

did anyone realize that Dia Frampton has had 2 Albums out, Music videos done, all with her sister in a band call Meg & Dia. They should have really made the rules a lot stricter as to who can participate on the show. GIVE OTHERS A CHANCE WHO DONT HAVE CD'S, TOURS, OR MUSIC VIDEOS. just saying.

Honestly the talent was mediocre at best. Disappointing.

Enough Already!
I'm sooo tired of the hype. Had to quit watching Today show because it's turning into one long plug for this p.o.s.
The singers aren't that good, and the judges aren't very interesting.
I prefer the original idea- FM RADIO

The voice was just OK as far as I'm concerned. Much too much "up close & personal" & not enough of the true "voice" entertainment. I found myself watching the beginning & the end...& switching channels inbetween. The program is called "The Voice!" To me that means very little of the judges voices & more of the contestants.

Blind auditions were intertaining, but the other shows dragged and were little boring. Turned the station. To many singing shows.

I really enjoy watching the Voice. Please don't get over-comercialized or change the way it is.
