Regis Shows Off His Talent for Accents to Ewan McGregor, Again (VIDEO)

Ewan McGregor is a fine and talented actor. So much so that he drew out of Regis Philbin a sudden desire to show off his acting skills Friday morning on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated). Philbin displayed a less-than-impressive grasp of accents, from Scottish to Irish to English.

It started with Philbin declaring "I love speaking Scottish" to McGregor, who is, in fact, Scottish. To demonstrate, Philbin paused for a moment to clear his head, then looked at McGregor and said, with a slight lilt, "Liam Neeson." McGregor thought that wasn't bad, except that Neeson is Irish. So Philbin give him a bit o' the Irish as he said, with a slight lilt, "Liam Neeson."

Philbin did the same schtick with McGregor last year, also confusing other U.K. actors as Scottish. In fact, the segments were so similar we had to do a wardrobe comparison to see if we were watching a repeat.

He proved his range today when, speaking with an English accent, he said, with a slight lilt, "Liam Neeson." When he retires, Philbin in surely headed to Shakespeare In the Park.
