'Food Network Star' Season 7 Premiere: First Eliminated Contestant Is... (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 6th 2011 4:23AM
'Food Network Star' season premiereFor its seventh season, 'Food Network Star' (Sun., 9PM ET on Food) has dropped 'The Next' from its title and gained a permanent judge in Giada De Laurentiis, who served as a mentor last season.

Fifteen hopefuls kicked off their dreams of getting their own show, including Jeff Mauro, who considers himself 'The King of Sandwiches,' and Vic 'Vegas' Moea, who already has the Hollywood name.

In taking a quick look down the list of contestants' current occupations, one seemed to stand out more directly than all the others. While there were a lot chefs and owners of restaurants, food and catering companies, there was one guy who's none of these things. He's a radio host.

So perhaps it should have come as no surprise when he was the first person eliminated. Clearly, 'Food Network Star' is a place for professionals only. Does that mean the two food bloggers will be the next to go?

Howie Drummond said getting eliminated from 'Food Network Star' "is the first thing that I've really ever failed at," so it looks like he's off to do some more winning, just somewhere else. Maybe Charlie Sheen needs a personal chef/DJ. He's all about "Winning!"

I'm glad they eliminated Howie--but I can't understand why they ever allowed him to compete. Surely there was someone deserving out there.

This show should be removed from food network lineup...it's old now..and forget about these Food Network
stars..they are around for a couple of seasons and then back into the woodwork...not worth watching anymore..
and as for Food Network itself..some of the shows are really getting old..you keep Paula (who really is not a
chef) just a home cook like most of us and truthfully I can cook better than her..there are only a few that are
worth watching anymore..you got rid of some of the better ones! Time for a complete lineup change Food Network People.
