Randy Travis has been a country music radio staple for 25 years, about five times longer than Josh Turner. What the pair have in common is that each possesses a muscular and dexterous baritone, which they displayed this morning on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) for Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. They called it a "Bass-Off."Turner is on Travis's new retrospective album 'Anniversary Celebration,' which also features collaborations with Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Kristin Chenoweth, George Jones, Carrie Underwood, Don Henley, and the Zac Brown Band, among others. Gifford said she thought that after 25 years, Travis still had one of the best heads of hair in country music. "And I remember when you didn't have a grey one in there," she said.
Travis and Turner sang 'T.I.M.E.' from the album, providing woofer-shaking bass that would make Spinal Tap proud.
