The Talking TV Podcast takes on Summer TV

by Maureen Ryan, posted Jun 9th 2011 3:00PM
In this week's Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan podcast, we take on a bunch of summer shows we haven't discussed yet.

But why the 'Game of Thrones' podcast logo? Well, that's here because I never got around to posting links to the the two epic 'GoT' podcasts we did with TV critics James Poniewozik and Myles McNutt last week.

Below you'll find links to those podcasts, plus running times for this week's discussion of 'White Collar,' 'Covert Affairs,' 'Franklin & Bash,' 'The Killing,' 'Camelot' and BBC America's re-airing of 'Battlestar Galactica.'

As always, all of our podcasts can be found on iTunes or on the Talking TV home site.

In the first of our recent 'Game of Thrones' podcast, Ryan, James, Myles and myself discussed episodes 1-6 of the HBO series. You can find that on iTunes or here.

In the second of last week's 'GoT' chats, we talked about episode 7, 'You Win or You Die,' in depth. You can find that on iTunes or here.

In this week's podcast, we talked about the following shows:

Intro chatter: 0:00 - 4:30

'White Collar' (My recent reviews of this show and 'Covert Affairs' are here): 4:30 - 9:32

'Covert Affairs': 9:32 - 16:30

'Franklin & Bash' (My recent review of the show is here): 16:30 - 25:00

'The Glades' (My recent review of the show is here): 25:00 - 33:22

'The Killing' (We talk about last week's oddball episode and what the show should or could be if it comes back; also, my weekly reviews of the show are here): 33:22 - 53:30

'Camelot' (Ryan weighs in on the Starz's show's first season, which ends Friday): 53:30 - 1:07:32

'Battlestar: Galactica' and why you should watch it (or watch it again -- and by the way, my recent interview with 'BSG' star Mary McDonnell is here): 1:07:32 - end

Full archives of every 'Talking TV' podcast are available here. The entire 'Talking TV' archives are also available on iTunes, as noted above. Our RSS feed is here.

That last remark was related to The Glades.

Does Callie have any other mood than shoulder hunched up and pizzed off? I'm getting tired of that limited range of emotions. Jim is great as the other characters.

As much I like to say threes nothing on TV in the summer. USA, HBO,Sho,AMC all have quite few drama and comedies coming. While broadcast with the exception of ABC seems to be most be sticking with reality television. It sad to say this but Broadcast networks truly are underutilized capability of scripted drama in the summer.
