Viewers saw Meredith Vieira's emotional goodbye Wednesday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), and Ann Curry's welcome Thursday morning. Perhaps a bit lost in the shuffle was the fact that Savannah Guthrie, a former White House correspondent for NBC and expert for CourtTV, is replacing Curry as a co-host for the show's third hour.Guthrie's career retrospective started with her talking about quitting her job with a local ABC affiliate to go to law school at Georgetown. The segment also featured Guthrie challenging President Obama at a press conference as part of her "dream job" covering the White House. She seemed just as thrilled about her current gig. "I never dreamed that I would be part of the 'Today' show family," she said.
Hopefully, people will learn her name at this job. The retrospective included a string of clips of people calling her "Samantha," and even one person calling her "Contessa."
