Dana Sheds Pounds, Reveals a Secret on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (VIDEO)

dana extreme makeoverThe emotions were running high as 44-year-old Dana worked hard to change his life, in more ways than one, on 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC).

The church youth counselor and choir singer shed 203 pounds in one year, but he also found the confidence to shed the fear and insecurity that kept him from revealing his biggest secret to his friends and family.

!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!

After several successes and setbacks, Dana told 'Extreme' trainer Chris Powell, who had been asking to see the "real Dana" all along, that he was gay.


Friends and family cheered Dana on at his final weigh-in in Nashville, TN. He almost broke down after learning that he had sized down to 295 pounds, and later thanked Powell with a special 'Thank you' song.

Good for him! I'm glad he was man enough to admit that he needed help and that he reached out for that help. For someone as overweight as he was, a few simple cutbacks are not enough. You need constant help, someone in your corner cheering you on and helping you get back up when you have setbacks. This man had NOBODY in his life to encourage him, and there's no way to lose that much weight withtout someone on your side supporting you.

And milliesmom76, please refrain from reproducing any more offspring. The world doesn't need any more homophobic a-holes. Thanks.

IF HE WAS GAY, HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEFT TO GET HIS WEIGHT AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE. MAYBE HE WOULD HAVE KICKED THE BUCKET THEN. GAYS DO NOT EXIST. READ LEVITICUS.

If I had a personal trainer, free exercise equipment, free healthy food, and national noteriety, I could lose weight too. The problem is keeping it off. As you saw, Dana kept going to McDonald's and engaging in the same behaviors. Why not give him psychology treatments to deal with his life issues and continue to monitor his progress over the next 5 years.

You don't need any of that to lose weight. If you are truly serious about it, you can figure it out. Just do a little research... sometimes all you need are small life changes...they can and will pay off! Concluding that you need the money and time of a celebrity to lose weight is making the choice to give up.
