Elle Fanning Tells Jimmy Kimmel About Fake Driving in Movies (VIDEO)

Elle Fanning stars in J.J. Abrams's new movie, 'Super 8,' in which she has to drive a car. Given that Elle's only 13 years old and is therefore too young to have a driver's licence, this could have been problematic. However, Elle let slip a few tricks of the trade on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC) and explained just how she fake-drives in the movie.
So, how do they do it? Complicated computer-generated imagery? Sophisticated remote-controlled cars? Oddly enough, in these techno-happy times, no. As Elle explained to host Jimmy Kimmel, it's much more straightforward than that. "There was a woman underneath me. She was on the floorboard of the car and she was steering it. ... They had a little steering wheel down there."
We're not sure we agree with Kimmel that it sounds like the worst job ever, but we don't think it would be a barrel of laughs.
So until she gets her licence, will Elle be taking lifts from her older sister, Dakota? She's recently got her driver's licence, but from what her little sister says, maybe she shouldn't have. When Kimmel asked her about driving with Dakota, Elle laughed and said "I don't know if I would do it again."
Apparently, Fanning senior has a scary habit of looking everywhere but at the road when she's behind the wheel.
