Jon Stewart Marvels at the Creative Editing in Sarah Palin's Vacation Video (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 14th 2011 7:50AM
Sarah Palin Vacation VideoSarah Palin described her hugely publicized One Nation bus tour of the northeast as a "family vacation," not a campaign trail, so it seems logical that she's made a video of her vacation as a souvenir. Unlike most family vacation videos, however, this one's publicly available, and Jon Stewart has watched it.

After Palin seemed a bit confused about Paul Revere and his role in the American Revolution, her supporters were accused of trying to rewrite history to back up her theories. Now 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) host wonders if they've also been indulging in some creative video editing.

Talking about what he called "the propagand-ie" video, Stewart was astonished by the way that the video's editors had managed to put together a collection of soundbites from reporters "while smoothly editing out any signs of their bewilderment or contempt. ... I guarantee you there's an editing floor littered with phrases like 'for some reason' and 'why?'"

After playing a clip in which reporters sound like they're finishing each other's sentences, Stewart wracked his brains trying to remember where he'd come across that technique before.

Finally, he got it: A TV ad for the medication Valtrex. As Stewart said, it's "The old finishing each other's herpes commercial technique."

I've watched Jon Stewart since late 1999 and he's always been the one to endlessly go after the Republicans. While, at the same time, he'll timidly go after Democrats when he gets the green light from whoever (his writers, the network, the DNC?)

He's nothing but a partisan who treads lightly when it comes to Democrats who are actually in power and f***ing this country up as much as (if not more than) the Republicans. But nope, the brunt of their criticisms thinly disguised as jokes are saved for a powerless moron from Alaska. The DNC is afraid of her for some reason and Jon Stewart, in return, does the dirtier work for the DNC in trying to ruin her image as SNL has done too.

Stupid f***Ing Americans...you've never been more blind to your own propaganda as you are now.

Thank the Lord for Jon, how else could we all laugh so much. Of course, it's not his fault that he has such models as Sarah to draw from.

Poor John, his timing is all but gone and he can't even regurgitate his own tired made-up nonsense without stumbling over it. Maybe his Valtrex ran out and he got distracted?

Don't feel bad, Joyce. Many people have grammar and spelling issues.

I'm not a fan of Palin but why is this little worm so scared of Sarah Palin? The hot topic is his college bunkmate boyfriend Weiner. There are plenty of jokes going around about this pervert yet Jon Boy is silent. LOL... just another example of the left-wing media.

You definitely don't watch the show. TDS has been feature Weiner bits for many days now.

It is not surprising that Jon avoids "vetting" and questioning the eligibility of Obama, but will spend hours on dead comedic issues as Sarah Palin and what she says, does, wears, speaks to and other mundane things. I just watched him in the fiasco and didn't laugh once. It just wasn't there, Jon. Try another source like Weiner; now there's a laugh a minute.

Really?? He's a comedian (whether you find him funny or not) - his job isn't to be "vetting" anyone. Palin's not dead because she keeps putting herself out there, providing stupid softball soundbites for comedians to launch into the upper decks. He's already had a field day with Weiner on a couple of his shows, and even on Obama. Of course, you would actually have to watch the show regularly to know that.

What are you talking about? Stewart doesn't "vet". Wow...do any of you critics of TDS actually watch the show?
