'The Amazing Race' Renewed for Season 20

The Amazing RaceTen years in and 'The Amazing Race' shows no sign of slowing down.

CBS announced in March that the reality hit would return for a 19th edition in the fall, and today the network revealed that it has already renewed 'TAR' for a 20th season.

Teams will race around the world on a million-dollar quest for the 20th time in spring 2012. In the meantime, season 19 will premiere this fall.

When AOL TV spoke to host Phil Keoghan last month, he confirmed that season 19 will begin filming this summer. "We've been lining up our cast for 19 and are very excited about the next season," he said. "Hopefully we'll be getting picked up for a while yet. I think the show, the season, with the advent of adding HD -- the show was screaming for HD and I think it's gone to a new level."

Though each cycle of the Race requires months of prep work, Keoghan told us that the actual race takes less than a month to complete. "The entire season of 'The Amazing Race' is shot in 23 days. That means 12 episodes and less than two days to complete one episode," he said.

Season 19 is scheduled to premiere this fall in its traditional Sundays at 8PM time slot.

Trashy? Obviously someone's making a comment about a show they've never seen. Amazing Race is probably one of the least trashy reality shows on basic cable and shows more interesting things than B list celebrities dancing and good looking people acting ugly.

I am glad. It really gives you an idea of how people live in other countries. I love seeing the challenges the teams go through. Keep it coming

People still watch this trash? Seem's these "Rot your lazy brain" shows get renewed year after year regardless of viewer numbers while other, worthy shows get axed because they lost .005% viewers, still think it's not about the money? Think again how little it cost to pay a bunch of average Jane's & Joe's to run around the countryside vs a couple of Professional actors going into their second year of a sucessful program. Reality TV has ruined tv programming and families coming together to sit down and watch good, entertaining and intellectually engaging TV shows together.
