Keith Olbermann Says Anthony Weiner Isn't the Only Politician With a Scandal (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 17th 2011 6:45AM
Keith OlbermannJon Stewart may have been unable to report on Anthony Weiner's resignation last night due to having the night off (bad timing!), but plenty of other commentators were willing to step up and give their opinions.

Among them was Keith Olbermann, who made some shocking assertions on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC).

Talking about Weiner's spectacular fall from grace, Olbermann dished out the criticism pretty evenly. Democrats, he said, abandoned Weiner because they "don't support their own." Republicans, on the other hand, "love to be on the right side of a scandal like this because it doesn't happen that often."

So why the intense media coverage of the scandal? It's gathered international interest, with footage of Weiner's chaotic resignation press conference airing all over the world last night. Olbermann think it's because Weinergate is easy for reporters to understand: It's given them "something that they can actually understand: A penis."

After Jimmy Fallon referred to Weiner's last name as "comedy gold", Olbermann then disclosed that Speaker of the House John Boehner answers to a rather salacious nickname of his own.

And, he alleged that there have been "all sorts of rumors .. for a long time" about Boehner. As Fallon laughed, he teased: "Just the ordinary stuff -- they may not be 'art,' as they say."

Wow. We think Olbermann was kidding, but in the murky world of politics and political journalism, who knows?

I'm tickled pink Oblermann mentioned the word moron when referring to members of the news media, especially since he was at the head of the pack!

You still around Keith? We ALL hoped that you were gone. Please don't side with our Democratic Party, for we sure don't want you over here.. and your stupid remarks (like on the show you had for a while :) about Republicans, even though we disagree with them a lot, they have real jobs (unlike you) and we still work to try and help America, that's what America wants us to do... Real Americans help one another... (UNLIKE YOU Who helps no one) You are right about classifying some media reporters, like you once were--->you called your kind Morons.. Go away Keith, and our Mission Will be Complete.

Keith Olbermann is a dumbass, who doesn't know what he's talking about, so he just lies, and hopes his three fans don't know it.

I've been saying this very same thing ever since this fiasco began. I can promise you that at least some of the people, both politicans and non-politicans, who have been shouting the loudest and screaming the most have secrets just as bad or even much worse than what this man did. I wholeheartedly agree with the old saying, "me thinkst he doth protest too much!" I have seen more "perfect Christians" get caught doing so many things wrong, ESPECIALLY sex things, that I've lost count. It's the self-righteous, always "mr. perfect" bunch that are usually the worst at doing the down and dirty. They often go in for the weird, kinky, out of the ordinary stuff in their lives and therefore, to justify their actions in their own conscious, they have to put everyone else down. Don't believe me, just think back to all the preachers or ministers that have fallen from grace and all the mayors, governors, etc., and so on and so forth. Or, they can be the type that the only way they can feel good is to put down everyone else. This is why I can't wait for the day when we hear about others getting caught. Actually, these behaviors are nothing new at all. Next month it will be some other famous person in trouble for something just about the same. Why is it the American people act so shock and astounded by these events? What's even worse is that privately, behind closed doors they can't get enough of the thrill. They THRIVE on it! Most people's lives are SO boring that the only thrills they get is trying to play a role in scandals. If no one payed any attention to scandals, they would actually decrease. And really, it's the media who won't let us move on. Talk about beating a dead horse. It's the media who wants these things turned into scandals, usually not the public. According to the news, many of Weiner's own constitutents did NOT want him to resign. It was the MEDIA who kept pushing for this action AND hecklers who have nothing else to do with their lives. Shouldn't the people that vote for him be the ones who determine this issue and NOT the press, OR the other politicians. I bet if you could get a TRUE answer about how many people sitting in Congress had done something they wouldn't want the public knowing about you'd find it would be about 97%. So if we're going to crucify one, shouldn't we crucify all?

I just heard that Weiner's father, Geppetto , told the press, "I didn't carve him to behave that way."
