LeAnn Rimes Plays an Angry, Vindictive Wife on 'Drop Dead Diva' (VIDEO)

LeeAnn Rimes, 'Drop Dead Diva'The new season of 'Drop Dead Diva' (Sun., 9PM ET on Lifetime) kicked off with Wendy Williams, Paula Abdul and LeAnn Rimes all dropping by for guest spots. Apparently, this light summer fluff series is just too much fun to resist.

Rimes played against type as the angry wife of a celebrity accused of a hit-and-run accident. We're so used to her in sweet romantic comedy types of roles that it was a bit shocking to see her being so ... brutal.

It was a month before Rimes's character even came forward on behalf of her husband. She was his alibi for the night of the incident, but didn't come forward right away. "I'm angry at Tim," she admitted. "He embarrassed me in the press. Look, it might not have been the right thing to do, but I wanted to see him sweat."

Even in coming forward, she didn't do it because it was the right thing to do. First, she convinced her husband to give her a $5 million property as part of their pending divorce settlement. The prosecution assumed it had been offered by him as a bribe for her false testimony.

But she was telling the truth. She just wasn't going to do so for free. She was apparently more than willing to let her husband go down for a crime he didn't commit if she didn't get exactly what she wanted out of him first. Sweet lady, huh?

What did you think of LeAnn Rimes's bad girl turn on 'Drop Dead Diva'? Rimes told us she took the role because the show's funny and she loves its message, and not because it's any kind of reflection of her own relationship with the media regarding her recent marriage to Eddie Cibrian.
