Vicci Martinez Brings Down the House on 'The Voice' Semi-Finals (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 22nd 2011 6:12AM
Vicci Martinez, 'The Voice''The Voice' (Tue., 9PM ET on NBC) continued blazing toward its finale next week at a breakneck pace. This week, we got the final four members of our Elite Eight, and got to hear them sing. Tomorrow, another hatchet job will send four of them home, leaving each Coach with only one contender for the finale.

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

Before the Top 8 could sing, though, we needed to know who they were. And that meant getting the results of last week's battle between Teams Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine. As with the prior week, America's vote would save one contestant, while the Coach would save the other.

America saved Javier Colon for Green and Vicci Martinez for Levine. Cee Lo went with the fan-favorite powerhouse Nakia, while Adam surprised even himself when he chose to save Casey Weston.

These four joined Christina Aguilera's team, Frenchie Davis and Beverly McClellan, and Blake Shelton's team, Xenia and Dia Frampton, in a very strong night of performances. Dia put her mark on R.E.M. while Nakia made Adam love Adam Lambert's 'Whataya Want From Me,' despite having never heard it before.

Javier was subdued but no less brilliant on Coldplay's 'Fix You,' while Frenchie Davis took Madonna's 'Like a Prayer' to church. But the most memorable performance of the night came at the end, when Vicci tackled Florence + the Machine's 'Dog Days Are Over.'

She gave a powerful and compelling performance that moved Blake to praise a rival's contestant, saying, "No question the most powerful performance of the night."

Now it's up to some strange combination of the judge's scores for their contestants -- who wants to bet they just give 50 points to each of their singers out of the 100 total? -- and the public vote to determine the four finalists who go for the win next week. We'll find out those results on a special Wednesday results show at 8PM ET.

What was your favorite performance of the night? Who do you want to see in the Finale?
