Who Should Replace Lisa Edelstein on 'House'?

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jun 23rd 2011 4:00PM
Lisa Edelstein, 'House'Cuddy has always been the voice of reason at Princeton Plainsboro, but next season there'll be a new boss on 'House.'

Lisa Edelstein, the actress whose character has bickered with (and eventually hooked up with) Dr. House, will not be returning for the show's eighth -- and likely final -- season. Instead, we just learned she'll be headed to 'The Good Wife.'

We know Huddy fans don't want to think about it, but who could ever replace her? It's possible they could promote from within, but they probably don't want to ruin the team dynamic either. And if they bumped Wilson up to bossman status, that would certainly complicate his friendship with House even more.

So we've come up with a list of strong contenders ... all women, as it turns out, so I guess we like that sexual tension, too. I mean, someone's gonna have to be the soft feminine shoulder for House to cry on when his favorite sparring partner says goodbye, right?

Adrianne PalickiAdrianne Palicki
We could definitely see this 'Friday Night Lights' bombshell more than holding her own with Hugh Laurie, and that's saying something. If 'House' is going to replace Cuddy with another female character, why not go with Palicki? She's available after that whole 'Wonder Woman' thing and we'd rather see her in a Princeton Plainsboro lab coat than wearing a badge in some bland cop procedural next season.

Jennifer BealsJennifer Beals
'The Chicago Code' reminded us what a talented, strong and devastatingly beautiful actress Beals is. We'd love to see her back on TV soon, and think she'd play the kind of boss that House would just love to mess with.
-- Maggie Furlong

Lisa KudrowLisa Kudrow
And not just because her first name's Lisa -- promise. The former 'Friend' is hilarious, we know, but Kudrow's also a fantastic dramatic actress who could definitely go toe-to-toe with Hugh Laurie's cranky doctor.
-- Jean Bentley

Laura InnesLaura Innes
In the perfect world, Laura Innes would join 'House' as her 'ER' character Dr. Weaver. But, that's a long-shot for sure, so I'd cast her as the new 'House' boss and have her play against type. Super nice, but with a flair for sass when it comes to dealing with Dr. House. Give her a secret or two and the show will be set.
-- Chris Harnick

Amy RyanAmy Ryan
During her stints on 'The Wire' and 'The Office,' Amy Ryan played tough but caring career women who dabbled in workplace romances ... paging Dr. Cuddy! Ryan as a replacement would all but guarantee more will they/won't they workplace tension with House.
-- Alex Moaba

Tricia HelferTricia Helfer
We've seen the ever-sexy Tricia Helfer don the iconic red dress in 'Battlestar Galactica,' but maybe it's time she puts those authoritative good looks to work in a white doctor's coat. Wouldn't it be fun to have a youthful, attractive and unattainable woman tantalize House in the hospital hallways?

Jennnifer Beals would be great for the role of House's new boss. She and Hugh Laurie will be at their sparring best everytime they appear onscreen together. Beals always had great chemistry starring opposite very strong male characters. Look at her chemistry with Jason Clarke on Chicago Code and the sparks between her and Tim Roth in Lie to Me. And she totally owned her role as Bette Porter in The L Word.

If they didn't kill off Amber(cut throat bitch), I can really see her as House boss.

I think Brennan (Bones) would be an excellent replacement (for Lisa).

Why replace? Just promote Wilson. :)

Kathy Kinney, Mimi from Drew Carrey. They need someone who would just kick House's tuckis without mercy.

Of all the people listed to choose from, the only one I can see being successful in the role of the new House boss is Jennifer Beals. I think she fits perfectly. All of the others don't even come close! I loved her on Chicago Code and she has the personality to be the new House boss and the sassiness to drive House crazy! She should definitely be the #1 pick! She would definitely be the one that House would love to mess with, and the one who would love to mess with House...and keep the upper hand on him too! She definitely gets my vote!

I love Jennifer Beals. I was so disappointed that Chicago Code was cancelled. I think she would be great with House!
