What to Watch: TV Picks for June 27 - July 3

The Voice - Tuesday June 28, 9PM ET, CTV/NBC

The show ends this week, with the final four singing tonight and results tomorrow. I've enjoyed what I've seen of the show, though I admit I wasn't devoted to it. Most of my pleasure has come from watching Adam Levine try to be Simon Cowell, and wondering what Xtina is going to wear next. We get it, sweetie, you have a small waist and big chest.

Also This Week:

Storage Wars - Monday June 27, 7:30PM ET/PT, OLN

I can totally see myself getting sucked into this show, which is basically about extreme garage sale shopping. People bid on unopened storage lockers -- you know, the ones out on the edge of town, usually painted a garish shade of orange. Before placing their bids, folks get to peer in with a flashlight, and decide based on that how much they are willing to pay. Once the auction is won, the place is opened up and the treasure hunting begins. I can't get that scene from 'Silence of the Lambs' out my head when I picture this, though. I wonder if they have a coroner on standby.

Love in the Wild - Wednesday June 29, 10PM ET/PT, CTV/NBC

From the producers of 'Survivor' and 'The Apprentice' comes this new dating show that tries to manufacture the lightning-in-a-bottle that was the Boston Rob/Amber romance. Basically, 20 singles head into the jungle of Costa Rica (where perhaps the producers can make use of previous 'Survivor' infrastructure), to have adventures and get to know each other. There's sort of a speed dating element to it, as people are coupled up but given the option to switch partners after challenges.

Rookie Blue - Thursday June 30, 10PM ET/PT, Global/ABC

I totally don't follow this little Canadian hit, but I'll be watching this week as Andy and Gail go undercover at a nightclub where people use (gasp!) drugs. Why the sudden interest? An old friend of mine from high school, Joris Jarksy, guest stars and I have the distinct feeling he's playing the "vicious criminal" mentioned in the log line. The only thing better than watching an actor chew the scenery is watching an actor you know chew the scenery.
