Chris Hansen, 'To Catch a Predator' Host, Caught Cheating by Hidden Cameras

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 30th 2011 5:30AM
Chris HansenOh, the irony ... It's been reported that Chris Hansen, host of 'To Catch a Predator,' the controversial 'Dateline' show that uses hidden cameras to trap would-be perverts in sting operations, has been caught cheating on his wife ... in a sting operation using hidden cameras.

According to 'The Daily Mail' Hansen found himself on the receiving end of his own hidden camera tactics after the married NBC anchor was secretly filmed on an illicit date with a blonde television reporter 20 years his junior.

He was the subject of a four-month long sting operation conducted by 'The National Enquirer' after he allegedly began an affair with former NBC intern Kristyn Caddell, a 30-year-old Florida journalist.

The Connecticut-based Hansen has been spending more time in South Florida recently for work, reportedly investigating the disappearance of James "Jimmy T" Trindade for 'Dateline.'

Hansen has worked for NBC for two decades, but became famous with 'To Catch a Predator.' Launched in 2005, the show is devoted to the subject of identifying and detaining those who contact people they believe to be below the age of consent over the Internet for sexual liaisons.

The show's producers work with online watchdog Perverted-Justice, whose volunteers pose as underage girls offering sex on the Internet. But when the potential sexual predators arrive to meet the girls, they find themselves confronted by Hansen, his film crew and sometimes the police.

Neither Hansen nor NBC has yet commented publicly on the alleged affair.

Predator, Scumbag, Dirtbag. To most of us there all the same, BUT Wow, Chris Hansen caught by of all things, HIDDEN CAMERAS. It says Hansen nor NBC has yet commented but why? Aren't they in the business of Demanding answers. Oh sure it wasn't no underage chick but it still needs to be answered by NBC and Chris Hansen. Come on NBC at the least tell us if your going to keep him and expect the public of accepting him. His creditability is shot to HELL. No one will ever believe any type of report he gives. My only question is,"How does it feel to be caught in the Act Chris."

It has to be hard to host a show involving morality when your own morality is in question. I'll never understand why people in established high paying careers make such stupid choices in life. It happens to politicians, clergy, media personalities and others, usually resulting in job loss and humiliation. The value of morality is getting cheaper every day it seems. Getting "busted" by the 'National Inquirer' is the ultimate insult. Maybe they'll headline the story as "To Catch A Cheater" or something else familair sounding to Chris. No laws were broken, but morality matters to most people and they won't watch the show if they don't like the host. NBC understands the problem that this issue causes for them. It's not a moral judgment for them but rather, a business one. Chris has damaged his image and NBC was paying him for being the moral moderator of their show. They have every right to reduce his role in the show and even terminate him if they wish. His contract probably addresses his marketability through some clause that addresses these kinds of scenarios. Chris... you got caught on camera doing something stupid. Now it's your turn to look foolish. At least, you didn't break the law!

If my memory is correct, did'nt Matt Lauer have a seperation from his marriage a few years ago because of an alledged affair? The news cycle was brief and no punitive action was taken by the network. correct me if I'm wrong!

I love these little comments, degrading Mr Hanson for supposedly having an affair with a CONSENTING 30 year old woman. Who the heck cares? It is not illegal to have an extra-marital affair. It might be immoral, but who are you to judge? Judge not lest ye be judged.

The only bad thing is this might have an overall effect on his show - To Catch a Predator - that has done some seriously good work in finding and apprehending pedophiles. You know, the people that ILLEGALLY have sex with minor children?

Shame on all of you that think that they are so morally superior calling him a predator or worse. No body is perfect. He made a decision, perhaps the wrong one, and he has to live with the consequences - YOU DONT. So hush your self righteous dribble, and drive on with YOUR perfect life......

This is stupid and he should keep his job..... His personal problems should be between him and his wife..... Not anyone else's problem......

Hey mvelez8735 , so what your trying to tell us is that you would still believe anything this man says just because he's Chris Hansen? What about CREDITABILITY? Or doesn't that mean a damn thing to someone like you.

Don't get me wrong, cheating is against all morals but to take the man's job because of this is wrong. Its not like he murdered someone. Personal business should be personal business, unless its affects the general population. These same people making this so public, many of them are probably guilty of this very thing. Lets put the camera eye on what's being done to our children who are coming up missing or abused. Or parents taking out children, or any number of serious offenses.

I love to watch To Catch a Predator. But gee Chris... people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Tsk ! tsk! you of ALL people should have known better, on every level.

Why is it that people just won't say NO? What Chris Hansen did to his wife by cheating on her was plain wrong. But it takes two people to cheat. And if these women would just have enough scruples about themselves to say "No Thanks" to a married man, then cheating on ones spouse would be ancient history!!
Where are peoples moroles & conscience any more?? I've had female friends knowingly sleep with men but Lord forbid it should happen to them!! So, this chick that cheated with Chris Hansen knowing he was married~~Well shame on her to!
