Davis and Antoine Face Reality Checks of Their Musical Dreams on 'Treme' (VIDEO)

'Treme' - 'Do Watcha Wanna' season finaleBeing in a band is never an easy thing. With all those fragile egos and dreams of superstardom, it can be difficult to be on the same page always. On 'Treme' (Mon., 10PM ET on HBO), Davis has always made things even more difficult for himself, but to his credit he tried to roll with the changes and punches in the band.

When he showed up at a gig to see a new guy in the band and find out that other people had made changes to the set-list and set things up to spotlight themselves a bit more, he even rolled with that. Not without a few curse words, but he rolled with it.

Which makes it all the more disappointing when it crumbles around him and we find Davis in this Season 2 Finale where we met him in the series premiere: Working as a deejay at a local station. It's a gig he's good at, but can he truly be happy doing it?

Antoine suffers the collapse of his band as well, but we see a potentially brighter future for him in music education. While his life may be filled with poor decisions, there has been no denying his love of music throughout 'Treme.'

As music has been such a cornerstone of the tone of the series, the arcs of these two characters have always resonated as if they were the contentious and struggling heart and soul of New Orleans. To see both of them lose their musical dreams is a blow, but we'd like to believe there can be joy even in these dark times. Just as there is joy in a third season of 'Treme' coming in 2012.
