Is Lindsay Lohan's Mom Dina Joining 'Dancing With the Stars'?
The Lohan family cetainly knows how to keep a high profile. Hot on the heels of daughter Lindsay's release from house arrest, and ex-husband Michael's stint on 'Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew,' comes news that matriarch Dina Lohan may be taking to the small screen. She's been dropping hints about wanting to compete on 'Dancing With the Stars' for some time, and now it seems as though producers may finally have taken notice: According to 'The New York Post' former dancer Dina says she's "in talks" to appear on the show.
Back in December 'DWTS' producers were reportedly trying to convince Lindsay to sign on as a contestant, but Dina told RadarOnline that her daughter turned them down in favor of concentrating on her stalled movie career.
"We are huge fans of the show and think it's incredible," said Dina, adding that, "We'll watch it, but it is not going to happen. ... Lindsay actually told the woman at 'Dancing With The Stars' who made the offer that 'you need to take my mom!'"
"Our family loves the show because I'm a dancer, and I taught dance when Lindsay was growing up."
It's questionable if 'DWTS' producers would hire a contestant who's worked as a professional dancer or dance teacher. The whole premise of the show is that pro dancers are paired with celebrities with little or no dancing experience. However, earlier seasons have courted controversy with the inclusion of contestants with formal dance training, such as Jennifer Grey.
Dina has claimed in the past to have been one of the famous Radio City Music Hall Rockettes, a claim that has been widely disparaged as untrue.
Her previous foray into TV was her reality show 'Living Lohan,' which aired for a total of nine episodes on E! in 2008. Most of the focus was on Dina and her efforts to create a show business career for younger daughter Ali.
'Dancing With the Stars' Season 13 is due to premiere Mon., Sept. 19th, 8PM ET on ABC.
